Frugalista Finery

Just the thing to brighten a cold  Monday in January.  'The Fashion Garret' is a new discount shop with more goodies for the frugalistas of SL, read more here.

Of course I tp'd right over and couldn't resist the 'emy' skin from al vulo. I am super impressed with this skin, it is very soft looking, the bright blue liner balances well with the quite neutral lip colour. Emy has a lovely blush to her cheeks too.

I scooped up the 'Sona' Shirt from Zenith also. It looks very summery, in a soft baby pink with ruffles and frills at the chest and hem, very feminine!

It's Taste of Second Life  time again,this weeks theme is 'Favourite Colours'

I ran right over to pick up Sassy Kitty's contribution to the event the Sassy Willow Skirt in Black. A great long skirt is a rare find in SL.

I read somewhere or someone once told me( not sure which), if you are showing a lot of leg keep your top half covered and visa versa. 

As the skirt covers my legs I thought it was time to bring out Asia's tummy (all those trips to the fake gym have really paid off)

 

I have been doing some serious inventory sorting the last couple of days and uncovered some forgotten treasures like the Glance 'Chanel' skin I am wearing.

The earrings are courtesy of the camping swing at  U&R DOGS, camp for 10 minutes I sorted some more inventory while I was waiting.

A new store to me RYCA provided me with my glasses and necklace,which matched the earrings perfectly.  The store is packed floor to ceiling with big bold inexpensive jewellery and some really great glasses, I will be back for sure.

It has been a very long time since I visited EMO-tions and it's usually not my style but I noticed the pulled back braids (or plaits as we call them in the UK) one quick demo later the hair found a happy home in my inventory.

52 Weeks of Colour-Emerald

Emerald one of the colours of nature, a healing colour and one of my favourite, although to me it is a much deeper and richer colour than Luna's swatch.

In keeping with the waxing lyrical above I took myself, my camera and my posh frock to Chakyrn Forest

 

I have wanted to do a more formal look for one of the colour challenges and this seemed as good a time as any. I plan to go dancing later and see if I can find myself a handsome dance partner, wish me luck?

I don't own many formal gowns not after the ruthless 'formal dress folder tidy up' of 2010  therefore I had to have a little shopping trip to the Marketplace.

It's all about the details.

More pretty eye colours for a self confessed SL makeup addict.

Scrub your faces clean and take a stroll over to  *Les Petits Details* hit the group joiner and look for the little gifties on the floor. The eyeshadow group gift has five tattoo shadows in. My favorite being the black below. There are a couple of  other gifts in the same place.

There is also a sweet little pink bag to carry your apple, lipstick and for some reason a vinyl record in.

I tried tonight to use the SL viewer and Kirsten's viewer ( I neeeeed multiple tattoo layers) crashed spectacularly on both, guess I will have to wait for Firestorm viewer.

52 Weeks of Colour-Taupe

Taupe! a confusing little colour, firstly hmm what colour are you actually? you appear to range from a light beige to a mushroomy/green shade. Secondly what is your correct pronunciation?  I pronounce it 'tawp' but I have also heard it said as 'towp', anyway here we go with my interpretation of tawp/towp.

One of these weeks I will type the colour name into my inventory and a folder will appear as if by magic full of fabulous colour specific clothing and accessories, alas it didn't happen this week.

I had a distant memory of a taupey/beighy pair of pants tucked away in my inventory, they were first off the blocks and I built the outfit around them.  Next up was the sash in yet another taupey/browny shade which kind of made me think of a bohemian look.

Finishing off with a Victorian inspired shirt with ruffles at the necks, wrist and waist some chunky jewellery and an elegant ankle strapped shoe.

Something Old.

I hoard things in both RL and SL for the day when they will be stylish again etc (it never happens btw) so when I saw this challenge I was all over it.

I have gone waaay back to the first 'quality skin' I ever purchased in SL, it was from Naughty. I remember tp'ing back and forth looking at how many lindens it was, deciding not to spend that much 'real' money in SL. I finally got the skin on December 10 2007 (thank you right click properties) and I thought I looked awesome.

Last Call was brought to my attention when I saw a very nicely dressed avi at PhatCats and politely asked her where her clothes were from.

The next day I tp'd over to Last Call, my eyes almost popped out of my head when I saw A. the size of the store and B. how great the clothes looked. I thought this trouser suit (January 14 2008) was the height of sophistication. It was a very sad day when Last Call finally closed it's doors.

 Everyone shopped at ETD and Yay Elika Tiramisu is back again. I loved the naturals pack that had black blonde brown and red included as I changed hair colour a lot back then (wish more hair designers would do this)

When ETD closed I think I must have bought every style I didn't already have plus shoes and boots and clothes. The sim was so full avis were tp'ing as close as they could and waiting to force their way in.

The jewellery I am wearing was from a Christmas hunt in 2007 at Second Mirage, I checked and they no longer have a store in world. I haven't even looked at this jewellery for ages and you know it's still great, I am going to start wearing it again.

I don't have many 'old' eyes but I did find a freebie pair I got from Skin Within which has re-branded so technically an old item.

TGIF

Started this post on Friday but got sidetracked so lets pretend it's Friday again OK?

TGIF which started with a couple of group gifts quickly followed by a hunt, quick trip to pick up a store dollarbie, jumped a taxi to Hucci and finally new releases at The Dressing Room Blue.

The shorter style from Dura and the LoQ style both include a tattoo hair base ( I have sooooo many of these now).

Loq and Roll

Did you know Glam Affair had a 10 Linden department? Oh you did? Thanks to Whisper over at the
Fab Free blog now so do I.

Empty your piggy banks smash open those penny jars and go shopping the whole department is packed with pants, dresses, shorts,shirts (I think I also saw some hair) and many of the older Glam Affair skins. There is also a mens section.

I picked up a few things my favorite being the corset and beaded collar, I could not get a direct tp to the discounted section but when  you land at Glam Affair check out the map for the crowds.

I had to wear the new hair from Loq again because I heart it so much and my spider lashes which are just so vampy and fabulous and just a little bit rock and roll.

LOTD-Pink Punk

Modelling the latest creation from Gia Pawpad at Loq, hair that defies even SL gravity.

As soon as I saw the pink poncho I had to hustle over to The Dressing Room, pink is not really my colour but something about this caught my eye. I teamed it with the simple pants in black and high heeled pink boots.

I had forgotten I had these eyes they are by HAYSURIZA and include a hud to change the size of the pupil and how 'teary' they look also you can wear one blue eye and one green. I tpd to the store but could not see (no pun intended) the eyes for sale now.

I am wearing a past TDR skin, Dahlia from Dekade and a tattoo layer lipstick from Glamorize.

The earrings are different in the pics because I crashed and SL decided to eat one of my earrings so I had to change to another pair.

52 Weeks of Colour-Indigo

Groovy Baby!  I built this look on the dress from Ribbons which is quite 60esque in my opinion and a complete steal at 35L$ for all you groovy chicks out there.

The dress is tagged as navy blue but I disagree it is too light for navy (if  you stand on one leg and squint it's Indigo..yesssss it is!

I wanted a pair of flats to wear with it and can you believe I had never picked up the free flats in the Shiny Things subscribo (for shameee Ms Romano) yet more tights from Latte this time in light blue, an updo that you could hide your purse in with cutsie bow and obligatory 'I'm a famous 60s model' shades and Indigo is done and done.

Fur(st) Impression

Unless you are living under a rock you probably know that The Seasons Hunt has begun.

First impressions?  it looks like there are some great items available. One thing in particular caught my eye.

The 'Fur Shrug' from So Many Styles fits perfectly I did not have to edit one single thing on it.

I instantly thought of boho/hippy chic when I saw it but on a second look it would look equally as great over an evening gown and killer heels.

Attitudes lingerie have a dollarbie set of pantyhose includes black, white and tan comes on several layers, a basic item but one I think I will pull out of my inventory again and again.

The good thing about SL panty hose?  No runs ever!

Losing My Way

I have a silly amount of lingerie in my inventory.  I say silly because I never have an opportunity to wear it,and yet I can't resist buying it.

Looking through the Marketplace today I found that Phoenix Rising has lots of smexy clothing listed and I just had to have the Mislead lingerie. This is a wow! set of lingerie and includes bra, panties, corset, garters and stockings.

There are stacks of cute and inexpensive things available on the Marketplace. I also picked up the bracelet from Edgegrafica.

Asia is in a rebellious mood and insisted she had raunchier pics today (she is the boss it seems).

The hat is from Cobrahive, there is a small mountain of accessories available there for 10L$ the hat being one of them.  There is some cute and unique hair also available at Cobrahive definitely worth a visit

Naturally I went for a browse,the store was very busy and I really didn't get much past the entrance to the store.  While waiting around to rez I noticed to the left of the entrance NINE free hair do's, I cammed in for a better look.

Little Black Dress

A staple in any girls wardrobe, dress it up, dress it down, or wear as is. Two little black dressed seemed to have made their way into my virtual wardrobe today.

This is Magoa's last contribution to the Super Bargain Saturday Event and wow did they go out on a high note, this dress is just perfect with it's military styling but if you remove the shoulder prims (as I have done in the pic) the dress is just a chic little black number.

The dress was still available as of four hours ago, run on over and see if you can still grab it.

Rate it Friday

Last night in the Vain group chat Fornicola Butuzova from PRE FABULOUS   made a comment about going through your inventory and rating your best buys for that week and in that way giving high 5's to the hard working designers in SL.  I think she meant this for SL Marketplace.

I thought this was a great idea but I am adapting it slighty to not only cover the Marketplace, I am blatantly stealing Fornicola's idea, hope she doesn't mind too much.

This weeks five star purchase is the Icequeen skin from Gala Phoenix.

 

I have been deliberating for a few weeks since I received the Christmas group gift.

I have been back and forth to Curio looking at the skins, I have tried the demo on numerous times and finally on Friday evening I succumbed and got the IceQueen fat pack in Acorn.

The fat pack has so many skins in it, six makeups, two versions of each, light and dark tone and a freckle skin version for each making a total of 48 skins and it's not finished there also included are black and blonde brows on the tattoo layer and six super shiny lip glosses, I am in skin love heaven.
